Download the PPA 2008 Regional Print Rules Beginning in 2008, we will be using the PPA Regional Rules for competition with the exception that we will still be allowing 6 entries per person. Until the Board makes a decision on rewriting/updating the PPO rules, the rules listed below are for reference only. All decisions required during competition will be decided by the jury chairman and will be final. Additionally, the Spring Competition will be 8x10 prints, flush mounted and please note the following NEW requirement: A CD with all images sized at 1000 pixels wide or 800 pixels tall, resolution at 72dpi must be included for projection. Names of files must begin with the maker's last name and be numbered 1 through 6. An example: MAKER_001.jpg Also, there are no wedding albums/folios entries in the Spring Competition. P.P. OF THE OZARKS PRINT JUDGING AND EXHIBITION RULES: ELIGIBILITY: This competiton is open to all members (Active, Associate and Sustaining) who are in good standing with the Professional Photographers of the Ozarks and are registered at the con- vention. Current studio membership must be paid in order to enter the print exhibit judging, even though it is not a requirement to attend the convention. First Timers must pay annual dues prior to entering print competition. If dues are included in the print case, please make separate checks, one for dues and one for the Print Case Fee. STUDENTS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE FALL COMPETITION ONLY. RESPONSIBILITY: Submission of prints to this exhibit automatically indicates the consent of the entrant to the following rules: The P.P. of the Ozarks and their agents assume no responsibility for any damage or loss to prints during shipment, handling, or failure to exhibit prints for any reason. All reasonable care in handling prints will be taken. Decisions of the Print Committee shall be final. ENTRIES ALLOWED: Total entries allowed are six (6) prints, wedding albums, folios or any combi- nation thereof. No to entries shall be of the same subject unles the treatment is such as to pro- duce two entirely different photographs. Prints previously submitted to PP/Ozarks, Inc. for judg- ing are not eligigble, as well as prints or albums that have merited at the Professional Photogra- phers of America (PPA) National Convention. A PP/Ozarks member who is serving on the judging panel in any capacity may not enter prints for that particular convention competition. Student entries are judged with all other prints and must conform to all rules. Student entries are NOT eligible towards PPO member or First Timer awards but will have a ribbon awarded to the highest scoring student entry. CERTIFICATION OF RESPONSIBILITY: Entrant must certify that he/she has created, composed and made the original exposure and that the processing and any special effects were done by him/her or under his/her direction. No photograph, wedding album or folio will be accepted that has been made under the supervision of an instructor or as a class assignment. ENTRY FORM AND ENTRY FEE: The Print Case Fee is $35.00 per case and must not include more than the work of one photographer per case. Complete the official entry form, sign the certificate and make our check payable to PP/Ozarks, Inc. Any omission of the above may disqualify the print case of the entrant. Student entry fee is $20.00 and the student registration fee must be paid in order to participate. SHIPMENT AND RETURN OF ENTRIES: All entries must be hand carried in fiber or other suitable print cases to the exhibit chairman at the convention site and be received by the Official Entry Deadline (no exceptions, please). Entries must be picked up at the close of the convention. GENERAL EXHIBIT DIVISION ELIGIBILTY: Any individual who has won fewer than six (6) trophies at the PP/Ozarks in the past and who does not hold the PPA Master of Photography Degree may compete in the General Exhibit. Please check the proper box. OZARK SALON DIVISION ELIGIBILTY: Any individual who has won six (6) or more trophies at past PP/Ozarks conventions or who holds the PPA master of Photography Degree must compete in the Ozark Salon Division. Please check the proper box. CLASSIFICATION OF ENTRIES: ALL PRINTS WILL BE JUDGED AS PHOTOGRAPHIC OPEN per PPA rules (see link to these rules below). Entries must be designated by the entrant in one of the following classifications. If no classification is marked, the Print Chairman will make the decision. Entries placed in the wrong classification may be penalized by the judges. If a print is determined to be in the wrong classification, the Print Chairman will place the print in the proper classification. The classifications are: WEDDING - All photographs pertaining to brides or weddings must be entered in this classification. COMMERCIAL/INDUSTRIAL - Tear sheets may be included in an 8 x 11 inch envelope attached to the top of the center on the back of the print. ILLUSTRATIVE -Pictorials must be entered as illustrative. ELECTRONIC IMAGING - Includes electronic/digital still images or electronically created, composed or manipulated images created as a first generation original image (except digital retouching/enhancement or scientific/technical). Submit your entry in this category if you have digitally created a new image. This new image may include other and/or multiple images from other mediums. WEDDING ALBUMS - Up to six albums per entrant. Minimum number of pages is fifteen (15) and the maximum allowed is twenty-five (25). All photographs must be from the same event. No imprinting of studio name or name of the photographer is allowed on albums. You may tape over names and logos. Multiple makers can enter one album (check PPA guidelines). FOLIO COMPETITION IS NOW AN OPEN COMPETITION. Up to six folios per entrant. Each folio must be of the same session but should have various poses. No imprints allowed on folios, you must tape over name and logos. No image entered in a folio may be duplicated as a single print entry. RESTRICTIONS: The outside dimensions of the folio must be a maximum of 11x22 inches. ALL ENTRIES ARE ELIGIBLE FOR SUB-CATEGORY AWARDS. General and Salon awards will be presented. BEST IMAGE OF awards... Man, Woman, Child, Group, Couple and Animal IDENTIFICATION OF PHOTOGRAPHERS: In order to identify and list all entries, all photo- graphs must be titled. The title, name and address of the maker and classification of the print must be placed on the back of each entry. No name of maker or taped-over name may appear on the front of the photograph. MOUNTING: All prints must be permanently mounted on 16x20 inch artboard or foamboard. Com- bined thickness of the print and mount shall be a minimum of 1/8 inch to a maximum of 3/8 inch. Photo- graphs may be any shape or proportion but print size must be no smaller than 80 square inches. Those who hold the PPA master of Photography Degree may enter prints up to 20x24 inches or a maxi- mum of 480 sq. inches. Smaller prints may be of any proportion as long as the minimum is no smaller than 80 sq. inches. Mounting may be the same size as print size with borders. Thickness of mount is to be a minimum of 1/8 inch and a maximum of 3/8 inch. FINAL DECISION OF RULES: All decisions of the print committee shall be final.
